HORIZON SUSTAINABLE READ MORE READ MORE SEAT S.A. IS KEEPING SUSTAINABILITY AT THE HEART OF ITS TRANSFORMATION PROCESS AS IT CONTINUES ALONG THE ROAD TO A NEW ERA OF MOBILITY. TO FURTHER CONSOLIDATE AS A COMPANY THAT GOES BEYOND ITS PRODUCTS, OUR SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY IS STRUCTURED UPON THREE FUNDAMENTAL PILLARS: ENVIRONMENTAL, SOCIAL AND GOVERNANCE SUSTAINABILITY Learn about the 10 fields of action that are encompassed in our three great pillars of sustainability In 2023, measures such as the Second Equality Plan (with more than 60 actions consolidating diversity and inclusion) and a new protocol against sexual harassment and harassment based on sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or gender expression in the workplace were approved. Furthermore, we continue to ensure the physical and mental health of our employees through the services of CARS (Centre for Health Care and Rehabilitation) as well as our various mental health programmes. In fact, more than 159,000 medical service activities were conducted in 2023. And all this without forgetting that last year saw the lowest accident rate in the company’s history. Similarly in 2023, SEAT S.A. enhanced its capacity to lead and innovate in the field of sustainability through a training plan set out in the ‘Future: Fast Forward’ project. We have provided more than 100,000 hours of training, equipping our employees with the necessary skills to meet the challenges we face now and in the future. As part of the transformation of SEAT S.A., the aim is to achieve 500,000 hours of training for all employees. Our governance pillar, which is also part of our sustainability strategy, covers aspects such as transparency, governance model, integrity, risk management, product compliance and customer satisfaction. A key element of this pillar is its compliance and integrity system, which promotes a culture of compliance and provides businesses and departments with various tools to prevent and manage legal risks. — The main goal of our sustainability strategy is to ensure our commitment to the environment and helps to improving the society in which we live, while continuously working to strengthen the company’s governance structure. As part of our environmental pillar, and as a sign of SEAT S.A.’s responsibility with its surroundings, last year we achieved the best environmental results in our plants throughout our history. Looking back, we can also see that the company has reduced the environmental impact of its plants in Martorell, Barcelona and El Prat by more than half, with a 53% reduction since 2010. In terms of energy, not only has all the electricity consumed by our facilities come from renewable sources since 2012, but this consumption has also been reduced by 33% since 2010. CO2 emissions from our factories have likewise been reduced by 69%. This data is focused on the goal of achieving carbon neutrality for our facilities by 2040. In line with the Volkswagen Group’s decarbonisation targets, our entire company will also be carbon neutral by 2050. The recent drought has led to the implementation of water conservation measures in various processes, such as painting and waterproofing (the so-called ‘rain test’). The amount of water used to produce a car has been reduced by 45% compared to 2010 figures. Waste generation and solvent emissions have also decreased greatly since 2010, from 78% to 45% respectively. Our environmental progress never stops and many projects demonstrate our ongoing commitment. In May, for example, a new electric KTL painting oven was installed at Workshop 4 in Martorell. In addition to its zero CO2, emissions, it is highly efficient, minimising heat losses and reducing energy consumption by 25%. Photovoltaic energy is set to become even more important in our plants. After a decade of operation, SEAT al Sol is growing with a new SEAT al Sol 2 solar plant that is currently under construction and is set to be one of the largest in Europe in terms of own consumption next year. This expansion, with 39,000 additional solar panels in Martorell, El Prat and Barcelona, will generate 29 gigawatt/hours (GWh) and also triple our capacity for self-produced electricity from renewable sources. Our commitment to the environment can also be seen in our future battery assembly plant, which will be fully electric and be able to generate 70% of its own energy thanks to the installation of 11,000 solar panels. To further increase its efficiency, the plant will have a rainwater harvesting system with a capacity of 7,300 cubic metres. A xeriscaping project will similarly be carried out, characterised by the design of sustainable gardens with native plants that require as little water as possible. Like the environmental sphere, our social pillar is a key part of our sustainability strategy. It focuses on increasing the positive impact of our business, not only on our employees, but also on society at large. Promoting diversity is one of its goals, with the aim that all people who work at SEAT S.A. feel included, respected and listened to so that they can develop freely and grow from their individuality and authenticity, regardless of their gender, origin, age, culture and sexual/affective orientation. OUR SOCIAL PILLAR CONFIRMS OUR COMMITMENT TO PEOPLE AND SOCIETY
