Violence in the workplace has been publicly denounced in re-cent years as a growing occupational risk. It seriously impacts workers, society, the functioning of the organisation and its competitiveness. It is therefore important to avoid and pre-vent this type of behaviour in the working environment. SEAT S.A. has therefore decided to create this new protocol, which was approved in 2022. WHAT IS IT? Workplace harassment refers to any type of behaviour that is repeated over a period of time with the purpose or effect of violating the dignity of a person or group of people, the-reby creating an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive environment. Email: stopacosolaboral@seat.es PROTOCOL FOR THE PREVENTION OF WORKPLACE HARASSMENT 1 The first such protocol was approved at SEAT S.A. in 2012. The new protocol was signed in December 2023. Some of the no-table improvements that it contains is the inclusion of the LGB-TI+ community, ensuring non-discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation, gender identity and/or gender expression, in addition to non-discrimination on the grounds of sexual ha-rassment or gender. Discriminatory behaviour through digital means, such as cyberbullying, has also been included in the protocol and the procedure for action has been improved. WHAT IS IT? This type of harassment refers to unwanted conduct of a se-xual nature that discriminates on the basis of gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression. Sexual harassment: any verbal or physical conduct of a se-xual nature whose purpose or effect is to violate the dignity of a person, especially when it creates an intimidating, degra-ding or offensive environment.1 This includes unwelcome se-xual advances, requests for sexual favours, comments, gestu-res or any other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature that causes offence or discomfort. Harassment on the basis of gender: any conduct based on a person’s gender whose purpose or effect is to violate the dignity of a person and to create an intimidating, degrading or offensive environment.2 It can take the form of sexist com-ments, gender stereotyping, ridicule, insults or any other beha-viour that belittles or discriminates against someone because of their gender, whether male, female or other gender identity. Harassment on the basis of sexual orientation: any at-titude, behaviour or language that expresses rejection, disa-pproval, prejudice, discrimination or intolerance towards peo-ple because of their sexual orientation. It may include offensive remarks, homophobic jokes, denial of employment opportuni-ties or unequal treatment based on a person’s actual or per-ceived sexual orientation, whether homosexual, bisexual, he-terosexual or any other orientation. Harassment on the basis of gender identity and/or gen-der expression: any attitude, behaviour or language that demonstrates rejection, disapproval, prejudice, discrimination or intolerance towards people on the grounds of their gender identity and/or gender expression. This includes unfavourable treatment based on a person’s gender identity, whether male, female, non-binary and gender fluid, among others. It can take the form of offensive comments, denial of gender identity and/or expression, ridicule or any other behaviour that diminishes or invalidates someone’s gender identity and/or expression. 1. The company and social representatives have worked together in recent months to up-date the document, which will be published through the com-pany’s various communication channels to ensure its disse-mination at all levels and in all areas. In the same vein, SEAT has recently rejoined the ‘Companies for a society free of gen-der-based violence’ initiative, through a collaboration agree-ment between the Ministry of Equality and SEAT, S.A., in order to promote awareness of gender-based violence. WHAT IS IT? Gender-based violence is violence perpetrated against wo-men by those who are or have been linked to them through emotional relationships (couples or former partners). The per-petrator’s aim is to harm and control the woman, which is why it occurs continuously over time and in a systematic way, as part of the same strategy. THE COMPANY PLANS TO LAUNCH A PERMANENT COMMUNICATION CAMPAIGN ON THE THREE PROTOCOLS, PROVIDING INFORMATION ON THESE MATTERS IN ORDER TO CONTINUE TO RAISE AWARENESS OF THE IMPORTANCE OF PREVENTION AND ACTION IN THESE TYPES OF SITUATIONS As a socially responsible company, SEAT S.A. has always been committed to creating a safe working environment in which respect, tolerance and equality prevail. All individuals must therefore assume the responsibility of integrating these principles into their daily activities and not tolerate any type of inappropriate behaviour so as to eradicate any violation of human rights and ensure an environment free from any situation of harassment, violence or discrimination.
